Irish Appointment to World Employment Confederation
Geraldine King, CEO of the National Recruitment Federation (NRF), has received a prestigious nomination to the board of World Employment Confederation (WEC).
The WEC is the voice of the recruitment and employment industry at global level. It brings together 52 national federations and numerous sectoral employers’ organisations, and works on labour market and industry issues with stakeholders, from policy-makers and social partners to industry experts and academics.
Geraldine King was appointed CEO of Ireland’s National Recruitment Federation in 2010. She has operated her own successful training business and also held a senior position with a leading Irish recruitment company.
In over ten years with the national industry body, Geraldine King has focused on expanding member services and developing a full academic career path for recruitment, Donal O’Donoghue, the NRF President says.
“Geraldine King has been a catalyst for change in the recruitment profession in Ireland. She has the vision to bring organisations together to work on shared projects, in a spirit of collaboration, and has professionalised the federation in Ireland and hugely developed its membership value proposition. She works tirelessly to address industry development, policy and legislation. Labour market issues such as barriers to employment for some groups in society have been tirelessly championed, as has investment in labour market skills. She has also made significant inroads in developing education and training within the recruitment profession itself in Ireland”.
The NRF CEO led the development of the accredited Certificate in Recruitment Practice (CertRP) for recruitment professionals in recent years. She also planned and facilitated the introduction of a unique new undergraduate degree, a BA (Hons) in Recruitment Practice, introduced in 2020. Delivered in the apprenticeship learning model, for those working in the industry, this degree level qualification is a world-first for Ireland in recruitment education and training.
Geraldine King was the 2019 recipient of the National College of Ireland’s Dean’s Award for academic excellence and first in class for her thesis on Apprenticeships in the Recruitment Profession. She also features regularly on honours listings produced by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), including the Global Power 150; Women in Staffing and the European Staffing 100 list.
A member of the MBA interview panel at DCU (Dublin City University) and an adjudicator for industry awards across Europe, Geraldine King was awarded Ireland’s James Kilbane Award for outstanding contribution to the recruitment industry in 2018. She has an MSc in Human Resource Management and is a former member of the Fingal Dublin Chamber of Commerce board of management.
